About Us

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is one of the oldest and most revered motorsport facilities in the world. Constructed in 1909 five miles northwest of downtown Indianapolis, it was included on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975 and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1987. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum (IMSM) was established in 1956. It offers 37,500 square feet of exhibit space featuring cars, trophies, photographs, racing records, memorabilia, and fine art to interpret the national and international significance of motorsports. We welcome more than 140,000 visitors through our doors 363 days a year and have been named one of USA Today’s top-three best sports attractions in the country.
